TaÅŸkafa: Stories of the Street

(Taşkafa: Bir Sokak Hikâyesi)

Andrea Luka Zimmerman, Turkey, 2013, 64’, Color

Taşkafa is a fi lm about memory through a search for the place of Istanbul’s dogs in the history of Istanbul. It is a window onto the relationships between power and the public, place and belonging (in location and identity), and the on-going struggle/rebellion against a single way of seeing. The dogs move us to face the ambiguity they represent that challenges the general binary approach with words and voice of John Berger.
